Anyone else on Kaloli Point inundated with malathion smell on their street, yard and inside their house? It's been 2 hrs since someone sprayed and it's still overwhelming inside our house and outside.

Could be worse, a few years back, in upper Leilani for a few months we had the smell of Toluale and Ketones. All the makings of Meth (Ice.)

Smells real strong here, must be north of me since the winds are out of the north.
Anyone with a well, check your water....

What does malathion really smell like? I looked it up and the interwebs said garlic. Is this true?

Malathion: Isn't that the stuff that attracts the larger type fruit flies?
I will often work with high quality cabinet plywood, birch and maple. Well, when I cut it up I notice almost invariably that those same fruit flies land on the fresh cuts. Maybe the smell is similar?

There are 4 or so different types of malathion listed at this link:
http://hdoa.hawaii.gov/pi/pest/licensed-pesticides/ Here's a cpl other informational links: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malathion http://npic.orst.edu/factsheets/malagen.html As for the smell....chemical and so highly offensive one might think it's toxic. It can be harmful to pets so best to keep them away from an area that's been recently sprayed for sev hrs. I personally wouldn't use it on my property. If you're downwind from a neighbor spraying their yard, it's best to keep you and your pets inside and away from the area. |
