There are a lot of thoughts to ponder on here. I was a little freaked by the distressing report on Hilo a few comments back. But Glen, you have given me peace. Perspective really does have a lot to do with the state of things.
A thought of interest that I had was that the weather on the islands is brutal in regards to how it intereacts with man made things. Things just don't have the same longevity on the islands as they do other places. Therefore, things can look run down a lot quicker than they do on say the mainland. So, I guess you can look at Hilo as covered in moss and slime, or you can look at it as a kiss from the island. That we have built all this stuff on this island and mother nature is just doing her part to make it look like it belongs here. Not that she doesn't need to be put in her place now and again and told she has taken it too far.
It sounds like someone needs to get themselves a good preasure washer and offer their services around town. It might prove to be quite a living.
