Septage dumping conditions irk West Hawaii waste haulers

"KAILUA-KONA — Friction between county officials and West Hawaii septage haulers has been mounting for months as pumpers contend policies at the Kealakehe Waste Water Treatment Facility are onerous and costing them money.
Complaints range from disposal regulations to a general lack of access including a 24-hour appointment notice policy and what they describe as frequent unresponsiveness to their requests to utilize the only dumping site on the leeward side of Hawaii Island."
Our County government is an obstacle to simple running any business.

I like the part where the county effectively says...
"We are open from 7am to 11am unless we aren't"

Many companies offer self-contained sewage treatment plants built into standard shipping containers. I've lately wondered what would happen if someone attempted to deploy one here; I assume County would treat it as a zoning problem ("industrial use") rather than embrace it as an actual solution.

A 20-foot container provides more than enough processing capacity for a small retreat center. Decentralization also solves some of the large-scale problems (plumbing an entire subdivision, pump stations, etc).

Government is an end unto itself; there is no attempt to serve the public.
Consider: salaries + benefits + debt service = about 75% of the budget. Property taxes are about 75% of revenue, so when you cut that check, you're just keeping the lights on, any actual services are extra.

Good ideas and possible solutions. Solutions and fixes are there and available, but.....
Government in Hawaii is a publicly funded employment agency, near as can be seen.
As said before, we have no real economy here, money from the Feds,
and tourism and retirees, which are an extractive, not productive.

Hawaii county, and the state in general, would be better served if we had better access to the entire country’s talent pool. We can’t expect the local community to be good at all these various tasks and roles. Hiring outside should be a priority. Nepotism hurts this place in so many ways. Locals think they are owed jobs, just because they’ve been here a long time. Jobs belong to those qualified (and interested) in performing them.

Let's make it as hard on the dumpers as we can, so they enough, and dump it any where that's convenient?

Here's a company trying to run their business doing something that is environmentally necessary and the CoH is driving up their costs to the point the business owner wants to quit.
Shame on the county.

Just unload on the County buildings lawns.
After all, when you have to take a dump- well you know.
Free fertilizer too. The waste haulers are after all
public spirited citizens too, trying to help offset waste
in the County budget.
