Volcano:Live, 2012, BBC, 4- 1hr. episodes, I think one of the episodes
focused on Hawaii.
Interesting note: It was all done from a mobile facility on Kilauea next to HVO.
Presenters were good too. Dr Iain Stewart and Kate Humble.

Not a documentary, but the movie Running For Grace does address the issue of racism in Hawaii on the plantations during the 1920’s. Filmed entirely on Big Island, it’s a newly released film still in theaters, and available online from YouTube & Amazon Video for $3 or $4. I’ve only seen the trailer, but it looks like a heartwarming movie for a rainy night.
Trailer:

"Running for Grace was 175 local jobs, 875 local vendors worked on this film. We poured $2.5 million dollars into the local economy."
Running for Grace was not just filmed on the island, but also developed and produced here. And as Hall points out, it was edited and mixed at Honua Studios.
