When I started trying to solve the unwanted chicken in the yard problem I was hoping for some sort of magical sonic device, or something I could spread on the ground that they are repulsed by.. but so far have found this to be the best solution..

It's a little more involved than sticking an inanimate object somewhere but I believe you will find the effort well worth the while

A very durable plastic.Ours came with our house 18 years ago.They were still in great shape when the lava repurposed them.

Mylar helium balloons work on a lot of species. The breeze adds random movement and the shiny surface creates an unwelcome appearance. I knew a seafood place in Alaska that couldn't keep the ravens away until they tied a mylar balloon to their scarecrow's hand. Still worked after several seasons.
