Angel Pilago at Pahoa HS
#1
Councilman Angel Pilago is a candiatefor Hawaii County Mayor. He will be having a talk story tonight, Wednesday at 6-8 pm at Pahoa High School.

This is a good opportunity to talk to Mr. Pilago, ask him questions on issues important to you and gain an impression of his abilities as potential mayor.

Assume the best and ask questions.

A very good presentation from Angel Pilago tonight. Unlike Stacy Higa - Angel has a clear idea of how things work. I was not too familiar with Angel to date and must admit I am impressed with his background and the moral basis he brings to his critical thinking.

He handled a wide range of questions from the audience and addressed every item with respect and in depth. He knew where the boundries are - which means there are some issues that need to be handled on a state level.

This gentleman has the thinking ability and uses it. My single impression is we are fortunate to have him running for mayor.

This is important stuff for Puna and Hawaii County.

Anyone else go to the meeting?

Yep, I was there and am very interested in Rob's response, since I was already biased having first gotten to know Angel when I worked at Council and having watched him since.
Angel is definitely the real thing; and pointed out that he is imperfect with his fair share of 'idiosyncrasies'. His commitment is to do the people's bidding -- a look at his Council record (and who has and who has not contributed to his campaign) supports that.
Rob's comment about Angel pretty well sums it up, "the moral basis he brings to his critical thinking." Not high morals for others to submit to, but his own standard for what he must do.

Can't see how I could vote for any of the other candidates for Mayor and can definitely see how I will vote for Angel Pilago.

Rob, Jim & I were there (thanks for the heads up, I also did not know Councilman Pilago prior to this evening) One of the neatest (literally) ideas his campaign team has is that they are not going to stand roadside waving signs. They will be out cleaning litter off of the highways instead! If you see them cleaning, give them your kako'o.

No sign waving? He just gained points in my book! I appreciate exactly that kind of sanity!

He had my vote a while back...

Taro is "culturally significant to the island's indigenous people," but allowing it to be altered through genetic tampering takes away from its "social, environmental and cultural values," Pilago said.

I wish I could jump on board with you guys, but I can't. I represent a group of very high-powered people that is trying to build a new hospital here. We had a meeting with Angel several weeks ago. (We invited mostly everybody from the Who's Who of Hawaii Politics, but only Josh Green, Chris Yuen, Don Lewis and Renee, the Executive Assistant of Mayor Kim, showed up.) We were not impressed with Angel, he was very wishy-washy. (It's not like the others were much different!) However, the question still remains, do I want to vote for Higa?! Hell no!
