UH Basketball
#1
Bob Nash has started his second season already by hitting recruiting trail. With it he has landed the biggest recruit since AC Carter. Roderick Flemmings turned down a recruiting trip to Ken., to sign with Warriors! Now if Coach Nash was using his noodle, he'd use his asst. Coach Larry Farmer to go after yet one more Blue Chipper. Coach Farmer can use his influence with his Alma Mater, UCLA. Word out of Westwood is that former High School All American from Fairfax HS, Chance Stanback has decided to transfer out of UCLA. To where, he doesn't know yet. So Coach Farmer, go do the "right thing", and land Stanback to the UH Basketball program. With two "blue chip" players UH's success would almost be a gimme!

So Damon, start the push on your other forums you cruise for Chance Stanback. UH could have him for three years. He'd be the biggest UCLA to UH transfer since Gavin Smith came to Manoa campus in the 70's. With both these players in Manoa, UH would more than likely win the WAC for the next few years.

His name is Chace and I think UH would love to get a kid like this... I doubt a kid like this would want to come to UH though.

I wouldn't want to go from the PAC-10 to the WAC at least.

The guy that UH is currently trying to land is Sean Crawford a streaky shooter out of NY.

Stanback would be a much better player for UH. LArry Farmer could possibly put this together because of his UCLA ties.

As far as going from PAC10 to the WAC. Stanback could become the "Big Cheese"once again. A title he hasn't held since going to Fairfax HS. At UCLA he got5 lost in their deep roster. Here he could not only standout at UH but within the WAC too. Were you to young to remember Gavin Smith from UCLA who tranferred to UH just for his senior season. Gavin made the most of it. I don't think UH has had a scorer of this level since him.

UH needs Chace Stanback!!!!

well working down on Waikiki Beach I can say the order is this Wahines, waves, weather. A.C. Carter, and teammate Mike Robinson use to cruise Waikiki Beach on days they didn't have practice. A.C. even came back and went surfing in Waikiki a few years back when he was with the Miami Heat.

You'd think Hawaii would be an easy place to recruit...but it's not! One year, and only one year do I remember UH having three, count them three 'Blue Chip' recruits. Henry Hollingsworth, George Lett, and Reggie Carter. They all did a Ford commerical for one of the dealers in town, and Coach Bruce O'Neil said. "No worries, nobody on the mainland will see this commercial. Boy was Coach O'Neill feeling stupid. Within a few days the NCAA was all over UH. Within a few months if not weeks, all three 'Blue Chippers' had transferred out of UH. Carter went on to have an awesome career at St. John's, Hollingsworth had a good career at Hofstra, and George Lett had a worthy career at Cententary[sp].
Since then UH has been able to get great players one at a time. So I drool with the thought of UH going after and getting C. Stanback!

I lived with some BB players at UH Hilo... and many of the Hilo players don't actually come to the Big Island before they sign on to the team.

They get a big shock when they move to the Big Island thinking the campus is close to "White Sandy Beaches".

Besides the "Slow lifestyle" of the Big Island and the lack of things to do... you don't see many UH Hilo Basketball players complete four years before returning to the Mainland.

I would think Manoa would be much easier to recruit to because of the city atmosphere.

It is amazing that every year we seem to have a few Foreign players on Both the Volleyball team and the Basketball team....(Lasha Parghalava, a 6-2 shooting guard, played on the Republic of Georgia's under-20 national team in 2007.)

Thanks for the story on those blue chippers and the Ford commercial.

I made a PSA with the Attorney Generals office and we used Therese Crawford in it. We could not pay her cash and UH eventually backed out of allowing us to air the commercial.

I wonder if thats why when you see Sears commercials during UH games... they only show former athletes and not current ones.

Damon, do you know how to get the email addresses of the UH coaches in Manoa? I really want to write Larry Farmer about Chace Stanback & recruiting him to UH.
