Planning a trip to Oahu on Southwest. How does the temperature check etc process work, and how much earlier does one need to arrive to airport?
tell us about flying out of Hilo

I traveled 3 weeks ago when the only temperature check was at HNL upon arrival. It was a very quick procedure at that time so should be the same now. No extra time needed.
Mask wearing was quite casual back then but now I understand you will get booted from flight if not masked up.

I went over to Honolulu last week. There is a form to be filled out. Temp. check and they confirm your phone number by calling you on the spot. Maybe 15 minutes extra depending on the crowd. It was light traffic the day I went.
I think this is the form: https://hidot.hawaii.gov/airports/files/...200519.pdf
Assume the best and ask questions.

I deleted my post because it had a hard to use link.
Try this link to the state's site and then click on the form. It doesn't look like they have it working yet. https://health.hawaii.gov/travel/

I flew from HNL to Hilo on Southwest a few days ago and there were 12 of us on the plane. You don't even get a cup of water.

Last week the wife flew SW to HNL and back. Departing flight like Rob described: station 1, fill out form, station 2 they call your phone, check temp, etc etc. You need to know what address you are going to which is the only thing she had to look up in her phone.
She said everybody was wearing a mask and it was a very pleasant experience. Returning flight form HNL was FULL. That meaning, they aren't selling the middle seats but every other seat on the flight was sold out. I think she said there were 114 people on the plane... I don't know configuration but that would be 2/3 full, or roughly the same as a Hawaiian flight that was completely full shoulder to shoulder. Today this was forwarded to me: https://www.facebook.com/bananaramacotta...6765794623 I won’t be flying inter-island again anytime soon. @hawaiianairlines minimal distancing. Row 4 and 1st class full. Many with masks below nose. One person in front row had no face mask at all! A face shield does little unless someone coughs in ones face. They’re also serving drinks on this 40 minute flight so everyone can remove masks at the same time. Ticket takers at Hilo and Honolulu with mask off indoors or not covering nose so everyone boarding can be exposed. In airport bathrooms no signs about proper 20 second hand washing and didn’t see anyone other than myself do so. It was far worse than I feared. No one actively enforcing mask rules indoors or on plane. Most are wearing but many have noses out. We have lucked out so far. I don’t think it will last, especially when they increase flights to the mainland in a month. #covid19fail #wearamask #notrocketscience #notready #toorisky #fail #hawaiianairlines #washyourhands

People on social media still complaining that Hawaiian flights full, no social distancing, staff not wearing masks nor enforcing that passengers wear them, and now this:
"13 Hawaiian Airlines employees test positive for COVID-19 Last week, Hawaiian Airlines confirmed that a handful of their employees tested positive for COVID-19, and Monday that number jumped to over a dozen." https://www.kitv.com/story/42321567/13-h...or-covid19

Harsh reality time. If you're terrified of the virus, stay home. The rest of us have to get on with having an economy. Especially now that our economy will be running multi-billion-dollar deficits.

So...
The form is electronic, you fill it out here: https://health.hawaii.gov/travel/travele...th-e-form/ It took me a second to realize that you have to scroll down hit the "next" button to get started. When you are done filling out the form, they email you a QR code that gets scanned at the airport. Sounds slick, right? Well, apparently nobody is using the online form so when you show up to airport with your QR code it takes 2 people three times as long to figure out how to scan it as it would have taken you to fill out the form long hand at the airport. |
