They mention a 290 gallon tank. I wonder if they'll go larger? No petroleum imports for power, no shipping from the mainland.

They were advertising a larger size (500?) on Reddit for a while, or a deal if you buy two 290s.

Wow, less than a dollar a gallon at that size is a steal!

Harping away, but septic tanks could keep them busy all day long. That big yellow tank that's $1000 on mainland is $2200 or something on Big Island.
But yeah, I'll probably be buying the 975 gallon for potable as well at that price.

Here's more info:
"The technology we use harnesses solar heat to replace fossil fuels in the plastic molding and recycling process (obviously a big cost savings in areas where most energy is imported) – and the process generates zero carbon emissions. Equally important, because the molding is done locally, the energy costs are low and we are not paying to import large, hollow objects, we expect to be able to offer significant savings on the products to the Hawaiian market, reducing barriers to ownership. An example how this may be useful is that the on-island molded septic tanks could be a perfect fit for the 100,000 highly polluting cesspits that are mandated to be replaced with septic tanks over the next 25 years.
We have also developed solar-powered plastic shredding technology which allows a significant portion of post-consumer plastic waste to be ingested into the molding process – potentially very impactful for islands where all plastic recycling was recently cancelled because Asian countries no longer wanted the waste."
