I did not try one of the big companies (Allstate), but most other insurance agents either cannot find an underwriter, or do not wish to be bothered with adding such a rider. We have a part Labrador dog who is gentle, but why not get PLI in case a pit bull owner decides to sic their dog on ours, triggering our dog to enter a defensive posture to protect her owner? I am happy that most pre-2024 Lava Zone 1 and 2 homeowners seem to have a PLI policy with high limits (it is inexpensive), but it took me a long time to find two agencies, Noguchi & Associates and Hawaiian Island Insurance that could generate a quote with all the important boxes in the Acord form, Coverages and Limits of Liability, filled out. Next year, 2025, I expect the total quote to be much higher than the $6000+ premium we have to pay this year. Barney is a lovable dog. Hope he can meet ours one day. |
