Google Street View Mapping Puna

I saw the Street View car pulling out of a fruit market off Highway 130 near Paradise Drive about an hour ago.  Easy to spot, has a 3 foot vertical post on the roof with camera container on top.  Doors say Street View.

I remember back in 2010 or 11 - they "Street Viewed" all the lettered streets in Hawaiian Acres.

A couple of the "private roads" subdivisions forced Google to remove their unpaved streets a few years back. Hopefully we can get Street View back again.

I can imagine that happening! No doubt a renegade BOD at work.

My favorite Hawaiian Acres "drama" over the years was every time they would put up new green street signs at each intersection, they were mysteriously all removed within a few days. 

Then, while at the Acres community center several years back (before it mysteriously burned down), I hear some brain trusts saying that they keep taking the signs down because that way the "DEA can't find us!"

Never mind the fact that if the DEA is watching you, they know what color underwear you're wearing at any given moment.

I did notice that the aerial "satellite" views of the Acres are very current - as in as of this year, where the street views are from January 2010.

My prior house is showing Jan 2010 - and my trusty old '83 Blazer is in the view. Miss that old beast.
