O MI GOD. That is really out there. A mud house. In the Puna rain. Okay, well it is actually a mix of materials, including cinders. It doesn't really sound like a good idea, but the price is right: $133k. Cheap. I admire the innovation. We'll have to see what it looks like. Many ideas conceived on the mainland do not translate well to Hawaii, though. I think my major concerns would be: 1) it looks like it is going to be right on the ground and 2)it looks like it would be airless and hot.

Doesn't Nanawale require at least 800 sqft? How do they get away with 2 320 sqft domes?

The Nanawale Community Association must not know about it yet. Its surprising to me that the Building Department didn't catch it. I mean, it is the responsibility of the owner to know the CC&Rs and follow them, but given that Nanawale has been around so long and its rules so well known, I'm surprised that the owner wasn't at least given a "heads up" by the Building Department.

P.S. Nanawale's CC&Rs call for 880 square feet.
