I need someone to bid on and lay real wood floors (not laminate). Know anyone on the east side? Need this done asap.
Thanks... Pam

While we are on the subject of wood floors, we need someone to refinish a wood floor. Maybe someone can recommend someone for this?

We have several installers that do quality work for our customers all over the Island. Please send me an eMail with the specifics of your project and your location and I'll be happy to recommend someone in your area. Mahalo,

I was just wondering if there would be any advantage to using laminate floors over the real deal in our oh, so wet climate? Also is there a tile that is impervious to lava rock pebbles which do a real number on the cheaper plastic stuff? Thanks c-ya manana Pam. Pam3

Pam Jones, you hit the nail on the head regarding laminate vs. real wood. I talked to several istallers and got the same answer. "Lady, you just spent five thousand on nice wood and it will cost you antoer (three to five thousand depending on who I talked to) to install it... and in six months you are gonna be screaming because the moisture up there in Glenwood is gonna make it buckle no matter what you do". So... I took back the wood and bought Pergo. It's not so bad... not what I wanted but it's not so bad. The worst part is that it all looks like oak, which I was trying to avoid... but it's not so bad. Guess we have to give into reality SOME of the time!

Pam J, some color through floorings (composites, bamboo & wood, can be buffed out after dings & such, our last house had solid wood in all rooms except our 40 x 17 kitchen great room, where we put solid commercial vinyl square tiles after a couple of other choices just didn't work out(the stuff that is in most stores, but we carefully chose 2 colors that were very marbley looking & checker boarded them, not too industrial looking, you have to top coat with wax or acrylic, but that is another layer of protection too.)
We have chosen to do our house here in porcelein tiles that have a rustic terrazzo look (Montago from Home Depot) mainly because in was available, durable, we were covering a slab that was hard anyhow, and it can get a little abused, and still look ok, since it already looks a little abused....odd way of thinking, but I really hate to ding a new surface, and yo know its going to happen...
