This may be a dumb question and I am hoping the answer is no. I have a teenage daughter who wants to go fishing.
Does anyone know if a license is required? All my fishing experience is in the Sierras.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Hi Rob:
No fishing in Hawaii does not require a license. Good luck fishing..

I heard that they tried to introduce the idea of licensing fishing once. But it was not well received. At least something fun is still free in Paradise!

Actually, I found some fish and game regulations and you need some kind of license or permit for fresh water fishing. Then again, I have never seen a GAME WARDEN near the water so who knows?????

There are wardens that do check along the Wailuku & Wailoa...
