Has anyone use hand pump for the catchment water? Can we do it? What is a good place to get a pressure tank in Puna? Which is the best type? the bigger the better? I have never lived on catchment and am very ignorant about it.
thanks

A hand pump would be pretty rough -- plus who would pump while you're in the shower?
To get any reasonable pressure would be tough with a hand pump. I haven't priced out pressure tanks in Puna, but I would check with Paradise Pools and see what they have. Another option (but in Hilo) would be Waterworks.
"Bigger the better"? Depends on your water usage and your pump. If you have an older pump and want it run less frequently in order to conserve its life -- bigger would be better in that case. If you do a lot of things that use large amounts of water in short periods of time, a bigger tank would probably be better. In most cases, I would say a 10 to 20 gallon would be a big enough tank.
