steel buildings
#1
just wondered if anyone had put up a steel building like they make garages and barns out of and used it as a residence and if it is possible to do so permitted? There is one here in Maine that I go by all the time and it is an Olympia Steel Building the size and shape of a barn. They turned it into a residential building and it is absolutely gorgeous inside with a loft feel and modern cabinetry and hardwood floors. It certainly provides a large sf living area but didnt know if something like that could be done as a permitted residence.

This Company specializes in Metal Buildings here in Hawaii.

You can see some residential plans here

I would assume if they are in business...that they can be permitted.

This topic has been discussed previously. You might try a search. I believe the concensus was that rust is a very serious issue with all steel residences in Hilo and Puna.
