Saw this on craigslist.

Maybe a good way to start out... Tho, dunno how long the roof would last in hawaii weather.

But looks interesting to say the least.

They look alright. Here is another way to access the page.

You do see the mosquito screens everywhere don't you? They also don't look very secure. They look like they would be very cold as I did not see a heating source.

To each their own though.

^^ Damn your observant!

Yeah, didn't think about the mosquito netting unless they just keep the doors open ... Most likely with the low ceilings and limited window openings I am sure it gets hotter then hell inside. I guess if I were to build one, I'd put a blue tarp over the whole thing so that the sun would hit that first and have about 1-2 feet of air flow under it... would make it much cooler and well, it would surly make the roof last a while heck of a lot longer since, much easier to replace blue tarps then the entire tent. But that would be just me..

[:I]ooppps.. yeah by the time i got my security warning not to follow the link i forgot you said craigs list.. old brain syndrome. looked interesting, cant think it would hold up well here. however if you are just talking about using during construction it might work. if i recall the ad, they had already taken the tent down so that would make me wonder if it had problems... sure cheaper than an rv but about the same as a steel container, another temporary option. but when we built we stayed in a dome camping tent so it depends on how hardy (and young) you are.(that was in 1981, apparently my brain worked better then...)

I think these are really attractive:

They would make excellent guest/overflow housing on the Kona side, but I think they would work on Windward side only if you put a metal roof overhead, and then you might as well finish the walls too. Sure are pretty though.
