Local Home-Inspection Companies
#1
Most if not all Realtors will recommend a home inspection. This is more for your benefit than it is for being approved for a loan, although most lenders do require a termite inspection report which usually is paid by the seller. If you feel you can't make your own inspection or don't have a friend who is knowledgable in such things, then it might be a good idea to have a professional come in and do a complete inspection. If he finds major work or repair needed, his report is a great bargaining chip. Some of the websites listed have pricing.

I'd also highly recommend Tim Kenny with Aloha Inspections Services, 937-2222, http://www.alohainspection.com. He does mold inspection and testing as well.

Use Chuck Cartwright (Big Island Inspection Services.) We call him the "Deal Killer" but I sure sleep well because of him. Smile He does inspections everywhere on the island and he is a member of American Society of Home Inspectors. (Only two BI inspectors are members of ASHI.) www.BigIslandInspectionServices.com
