trouble with rambutant
#1
I planned 3 rambutant trees last christmas at my house in 5th. All 3 are not doing so well with leaves burning at the pointy end and around the edges. Anyone has similar prolem with rambutant?

Canhle,

I've had the same problem with my rambutans. I'm no expert but based on my research, rambutan plant likes lots of moisture, especially the young plant. With the regular daily rain since last week, mine are looking better.

I don't have experience with Rambutant, but over fertilizing can cause burned leaves. Angela

the rambutan down here on the coast are really moody guys until they are 4 or 5 years old/4 or 5 feet tall - the leaves are very thin and thus dry out fast - wind will damage the leaves as well - they take alot of water if planted in a full sun spot - they're like an understory plant in the begining needing very little sun- a grower in opihikao planted his in rows between strips of jungle - as the trees matured we beat back more and more jungle - if your jungle is gone you can put a chicken wire cage around the tree and tie shadecloth to it - this will keep the wind out and your mulch from drying out so fast
