What worm is it?

My Winter squash are getting worms ( or larva ) they are about 3/4" long and have a yellow/ orange mess around them. They hit when the squash are about 6" long.

I have always called it a pickle worm. They get into my cucumbers, squash, and zuchini. The garden exchange sells a spray for them.
