The top spots on Google are not for sale - unless you mean the clearly marked "Sponsored Links".

Guys, Punaweb friends is an unmoderated group, with no "approval" of a moderator for membership or posts. Therefore the spam artists can join and post to their hearts contents. ALL you have to do is set your preferences to "no mail", I think it is called Web Only.
I do not know who set it up, but I think it is great to have a server where we can post our photos to share with the group. We could also make a group on Yahoo for picture albums and make it a private group, where it is invitation only.

I have an excellent spam filter on AOL too.

I didn't set it up. When I remember who it was I will post it. I don't get spam from it, as far as I know, as I made a junk email account to join with.

PunaWebFriends was kindly started by Ed Smay. Where did he go?

We've been using that site for a long time now...I never get spammed, but it's been a couple of years at least.

I'm with Jon. Gmail or Google mail is outstanding. Spam filter almost never misses anything. I also recommend Google's Docs ( never buy MS Office or word again), Googles photo software called Picasa, Calendar, Alerts, and more. All is free.

Google's revenues comes from "Pay per click" or the "Sponsored links". If you are doing business, there is no better advertising. Check it out at http://www.adwords.google.com

One of the spammers is ffrancord - email: propand08@gmail.com

This is a newer name, the previous one was prancord FF, but the same person.

Irritating.

Well, will the person who set up the group come forward? That person is the only one who can set the controls. It should be pretty easy to keep most of the spammers from joining and posting. All we would need to do is put out a simple questionnaire that they need to fill out before being admitted into the group and once anyone posts anything that even looks like spam, they are instantly banned. After a few times of going through all of the hassle most spammers move on to easier pickings. I would be glad to help do that, but the person who is in charge of the group is the only one who can set the controls and allow moderators.

Ok, this might just a short term fix but I created a Yahoo Group call Puna Web Friends.
Members can post pics, add files do polls etc. It is not meant to be a replacement for our beloved Puna Web, but as a file cabinet if need. Here is the link, let me know what you think about using it.
