Aloha everyone!
I just started an online group at
http://greendrinks.ning.com/group/greendrinkspahoa to help promote sustainability in Pahoa, HI. My goal is to bring our community together to support green living, however that looks to you. I have a lot of ideas about how we can take our town back and create a place that people want to be.
I'm looking for a place for us to meet in person for an exchange of ideas once a month in Pahoa. Any thoughts?

Lovely presentation, lotus. I wish you the very best, and will keep your enterprise in mind.
I've been working on an idea for setting up a business website, and would very much like to know how you got yours going. I checked it out with professional designers, and it would cost several thousand dollars. I've also bought some books for doing it myself, but have been warned that if the design isn't "slick", no one would take it seriously. Since I'm a computer novice (to put it nicely), I fear any attempt on my own would be hilarious and disasterous.
Any thoughts from you or anyone else would be appreciated.

Thanks Centipede. I'm not actually selling anything or trying to start a business. I want to help gel our community together as one that takes an interest in keeping Pahoa sustainable.
An Update:
We've got a new meeting place. It's at the Punatic Cyber Cafe (formerly the Outpost) in Pahoa at the Malama Shopping Center. We will meet the first Monday of every month at 7pm to hang out, exchange ideas, get to know each other in person and hopefully form a strong community dedicated to making Pahoa the coolest little town to hang out in ever! Anyone is welcome to come. So bring your friends, tell everyone you know! Let's green up Pahoa, and have fun doing it!
Coming up on Monday May 4th: Punatic Cyber Cafe, 7pm... This month's topics of conversation, Let's get recycling bins on the street in Pahoa next to all the garbage cans! How about a First Saturday Art Walk every Month?
And
My personal favorite: Community Garden program. Can we get enough plants and flowers donated to re-landscape all the dirt, and bare areas of Main Street and make Pahoa pretty again? I've already met willing volunteers, and been offered several seedlings, flowers and such to make this happen! Change? Yes we can!!

Aloha, lotus. I will make every effort to attend May 4. I understand you are not actually selling anything or trying to start a business but I am, and my query had to do with how you got the website up and running. Did you do it yourself, did friends help, or did you have it done professionally?
