Cna yuo raed tihs? Olny 55 plepoe out of 100 can.

i cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt!
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

This is actually a demonstration of the dichotomy in the way English speakers read. If you look at the words in kimo's example, all the letters in every word are there, just mixed up somewhat. Those of us (including me) who read by recognizing the groups of letters breeze through this. Those who "sound out" the letters phonetically have trouble. I would love to see a version of this for a language like Spanish that is spelled phonetically. It would probably be different and interesting.

Cheers,
Jerry

That is really interesting.

I too read through it as fast as a normal sentence. Under 5 seconds.
