Offgrid?

We are moving to puna soon and planning to build offgrid.We are farmsteding and want to be completely self sastained and give to the community.Im looking for any info to help,dos-donts as far as building.(rules,regs-Ive seen and read alot of talk about it.Looking for someone thats done it,or knows first hand.Does anybody know about the county-states future plans on this matter?Ive been prepareing for about two yrs now so,looking for the gold.Thanks Jonathan

We start on the same thing next week... 100% off-grid, no services for a 2 mile radius.
As per the codes, there's a current State wide transition towards the international code sets this year.

I've built 100's of buildings/houses over the years and a handful in AZ that were off grid. As per Hawaii and off grid, I heard many tales of rumblings with regard to the State not having their ducks in a row on the matter code wise, holding up projects, however that said, I'm sure that's probably changed the past couple years.

Lots of info already posted here by many of us that have done it. Use search function, then ask more questions pertaining you your situation. You'll get answers.

We did ours and it went rather smoothly IMHO.
