A new cell tower
#11
Stillhope, my Verizon pension check thanks you for that ringing endorsement (no pun intended). And for the record, let me again state with my hand on a stack of bibles that it was a complete coincidence that Verizon turned on it's Orchidland cell tower immediately after we purchased property on Orchidland Drive. And finally, no, I can't decipher my bill either Smile

Have you thought about trying a different phone. My wife and I have ATT and my Motorola V-365 gets poor reception at out house and my wife's V-3 Razr gets 5 bars anywhere in the house.I have to stand out on the back Lanai and face Pahoa to get any signal at all.

Check with Verizon and see what they can do for you.

The Razr is not available on the Verizon website and it is a little dated in comparison to the new smart phone.

I buy them for my wife off of Ebay and save a few bucks.

Thank you for the suggestion.May be there's something better.
But it sure works perfectly well in Hilo.[^]

Obie, I am with you! I have to walk around the house to find good reception for AT&T but it used to be much better! (Maybe some one sweet talked them into that 1-2 deg and it put us on the edge here.)

Just FYI, AT&T typically drops out heading south between Kawailani and merge lane south from Subway/Hwy 11 for just a few hundred ft... and corner of Puainako and Hwy 11. Weird eh?

We got notice a few months back that there would be a new cell tower installed on 13th between Paradise and Makuu.

I'd rather be a wise ass than a dumb ass!!!

You likely have AT&T at your house. I do, and it gets a little better the more you go towards the street you're on. I have no service on my street, but towards the back of my lot I do. It's not great, but it's better than nothing.

In Saturday's Hawaii Tribune Herald:

APPLICANT: T-MOBILE WEST CORPORATION (USE 09-17)
Use Permit to allow the construction of a 150-foot telecommunication tower and related improvements on 2,500 square feet of land within the County’s Single-Family Residential (RS-10) zoned district. The property is located at the northeast corner of the Kehau Road and Tutu Lane intersection, Nanawale Estates Subdivision, Unit I, Puua, Puna, Hawaii, TMK: 1-4-49:41.

The cellular companies frequently rent space on each other's towers, so even tho this is a T-mobile tower, it may bode well for AT&T and Verizon customers as well.
