Today in the classifieds in HTH, hilosailing advertised whale watching in Hilo.
"Student rates, $35" Not sure what that means!

Did you go Rob? Action near the shore here in Hilo Bay has slowed down, but the whales are still active a little farther out.

No, not yet, a bout of tonsillitis appears to be diverting our attention.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Been watching the whales off the HPP coast for several weeks now. They are about a mile off shore. Dolphins also.... while the green sea turtles that were all over the HPP coast last week seem to have moved on...

Rob, sorry to hear about the tonsillitis... awful thing it is! Today was a particularly active day for the whales close up to shore. There seems to be no reason for when and where the appear, but this morning from 5-11 we sighted more than 30 of them and many were so close it was amazing. Every time I hear "the slap" sound I look out of the windows and follow them. Now, much later in the day they seem to have moved much farther out. I can only spot them by seeing their spouts.
