jerry,
Interesting about the ground rods in concrete when a UFER ground is allowed attached to rebar in the bottom of the footing.

As for wells, yes they can be right up to the property line. In fact we just finished one that was only a few feet from the neighbor's well.

lol Daniel, subbing Italian for French ...
They shouldn't be used interchangeably.
A port cochere is a carriage porch or literally "coach door," and the operative element is that it accommodates vehicles passing through, motorized or not. From the French, Louis XIV or XV period.
A portico comes from Classical architecture and is prominent in Greek Temples, like the Parthenon, a walkway with colonnades. Although it may be simpler in these times, It's not for vehicles to pass through.

On AG land, the de minimus structure variations are 18 inches. There is some variance for overhangs, etc. But minor variances for a things like a catchment tank a little over the line are USUALLY not hard to get (the actual house itself may be a different question). No guarantees, but its worth trying for.

O.K. Kathy, How about the origin of Frieze blocks? Astragal, or Escuteon?
Dan
Oh, and by the way, is it Varge rafter or Barge rafter?
