Does anyone need some for their pond? Our has had a population explosion. (As an example, my friend took about 200 home on Saturday and it isnt even a dent...)
Email me if so and we can arrange a pick up - I have nets. you bring buckets.

I have to grin at your predicament, Cat. You probably know this, but I'll say it anyway: Tilapia is to aquaculture what rice, soy beans, or corn is to agriculture. This species can be raised in almost any climate or water quality. In grad school, there was another student who had about a 20" tilapia in a 24" tank. The fish had nowhere to go, obviously, and you couldn't actually see the animal because of the dense algae in the water. The animal would rise to the surface when the side of the tank was tapped, gaping its mouth to have food pellets poured into its mouth. These animals are just amazing for their resilience to poor quality habitat.
Are you raising these as a food source?

Nope. They came with our pond. The gentleman who owned it previously had cleared out a couple of thousand.... now they are back again and are over running everything else.
We did laugh and say if this new mortgage drives us to the poor house we'll never starve!!
Pam, email me and we can set something up next weekend if ok?
Note: some people are coming on thurs between 3-5 PM if you can make that, great!

maybe you can be a subcontractor for a cat shelter. anchor a raft of cats in the center and have them paw out the tilapia that venture too close to the raft.

KathyH, OMG! Your koi are so happy! You gotta come and see them!! Your big ones are definitely the alpha fish in the pond!
LOL, at the alpha fish. Absolutely want to come and see them ... and play Scrabble.
I bought two itty bitty goldfish to eat the mosquito larvae after the koi left, and darn if they aren't six inches long after only one month in the pond. My pond is too small for monster fish!
