Haunting Puna & your old High School
#1
Perhaps I am just easily impressed but I think this is so cool! Like me, you may need to download and install Google Chrome first in order to run this haunting interactive music video, but if so then imho the couple minutes needed to do so is worth it. A good internet connection speed will probably be necessary for it all to work correctly.

I entered the name of my old high school for the address and enjoyed that which came up -the version for your old school must be equally haunting. At the midpoint where it asks you to send a message back through time and space I typed "FFA uber alles" and drew a seed -be sure to write a message and draw something as the beginning of the second part of the video (which finishes with a remarkable finale!) is really nifty if you have done so.

Google Chrome is available free via the "this site" link in the first paragraph of NPR's 05SEP2010 article The Secret Ingredient Of Arcade Fire's New Video? You found here:

Apparently street addresses for childhood homes can be entered, but I wonder if the results would be as spectacular as with a school. I've not yet tried cyber-haunting sites in Puna and around Hawaii with this Google Earth technology, but am now intrigued to learn more about Big Island places viewable via Google Earth, and places on the other Hawaiian Islands as well.

Nicely done! Unfortunately it won't have the same effect in Puna because they still haven't processed the Street View pictures. The Google cars were here more than a year ago. Maybe they got rained out. Much of Oahu is covered now.

I saw a Google car about, oh, 6 months ago driving down 130. Unless someone else has that tell-tale 360 camera on the roof of their car! I wonder how long it takes to get the pics up. Hmmm.... I just checked my old address and what WAS there isn't anymore - it totally skips my house and street now where it showed it a year ago. So obviously all this changes.
