Akebono Theatre
Pahoa is one of the coolest little towns in Hawaii and the Akebono Theatre is a perfect fit for the artsy village it's located in. The venue is connected to Luquin's Mexican Restaurant, which is making a sumptuous buffet to feast on right after Christmas when you don't feel like cooking. They'll have fresh food and specialty dishes that are excellent. The best news is that many of John's family members live close by, so you can count on a bunch of Cruz's crashing the stage for this festive holiday celebration. Doors open at 5pm for dinner. Make reservations early to ensure a good table. If you live in Kona, this one is worth the drive to the Hilo side.
