The good news is Oceanic is offering
8Mbps/512K service for $54.95 now.It is available on Oahu for sure. The availability for other islands is uncertain. The bad news is there will be no free speed upgrade in 2007, as what has happened in the past.

Oceanics prices already are bad enough. Now they wanna charge us for speed increase. Why not 'deep six', the Kupaa Card and keep prices lower? Why I need to pay over $50 a month that for sure will be a bottleneck adventure in no time at all with everybody going online at the same time.

I live in HPP and run a business on the internet. I use local dialup and consistantly get 46-48kbs connections and this works great for me. I pay $19.95 a month.

I use to have cable with extremely fast speeds and wound up paying add on charges for going over a certain limit plus assorted other charges like what you get on your telephone statement every month. It was just too expensive and not worth it to me.

I've been on broadband for over five years or more, sorry but going back to dialup is not an option. What not worth it to me is,..busy signals, overall slow performance, etc,etc..
I'm also assuming your business is probably on the smaller side of the business world. I could see no other way for a dialup to work in a business enviornment...except in a very small operation, right?

My on-line "one man" business averages about 30 grand a year. Weather thats considered a small on-line business or not is subjective. I think the real problem that most people have with dialup is patience on the internet. I have alot of it and most people don't.

Sounds about right to me, congrats. I think I have been an engineer to long, not enough imagination left to start an internet business.

I'm in HPP and have been on Hawaiian Telcom DSL for over a year. It is $29.95 a month. It has worked well for me. I heard the price may be going up $5.00 but I'll still keep it. Had cable service on the mainland and it would slow down so bad at peak time in the evenings.

I live in Kapoho and have my DSL/Phone & unlimited domestic LD with Hawaiiantel - it costs me TOTAl $69 a month. We had road runne rout in Honomu when they first got here and it was slower than molasses. I called numerous times and complained and then switched to DSL when it became available.

My parents have that My Choice bundle from HawTel also for 65.95 a month. We've been very happy with it. They don't advertise it, you have to ask.
