Number one in sales is not always the best for the buyer.
Contact John Rabi and John Drigo non this site. They know their stuff.

I will keep this simple: John Dirgo is the best real estate agent I have ever worked with and I have worked with tens of them. Before I went to law school, I was a waiter. Unless you are at Benihana and wish to be entertained, people who are hungry want you to be there when they need you and to remain quietly in the background when they don't. They don't want you to come over and ask if you are "still working on THAT". They want you to have a second sense about when to whisk away a plate. They want their food hot. They want their beverages refilled immediately. They want you to know the menu INSIDE and out. They want you to have the smarts to charm and cultivate the cook, the linemen, the dessert lady and anyone involved in the background that might make your dining experience better. They want you to be organized so that the salad does not come out with the entree (unless they want it that way).
Rough analogy perhaps, but John is exactly like that. Encyclopedic knowledge of the area, there when you need him and quietly in the background when you may not, maintains good relations with others, very well organized, assertive but not aggressive. Me happy. As for top sales, I have my place on the market in another city and state with the one of the "top sales" agents. I never hear from her. I find out from others that people have seen the place. I cannot wait until that contract ends.

I agree with the others, "#1" is very misleading. It could be #1 in $ figures ("that huge sale really helped, huh?"

Agreed, #1 does not equal "best". And also, it depends on if you are buying or selling. There's a lot of agents that list properties, put it on the MLS and think their job is done. Sure, they may have a lot of listings and show up well in the statistics, but they are not the "best agent" by any means.
In terms of buying, you want someone that will consider all the options out there, listen to your needs and potentially show you things that you hadn't considered. Often, I'll know of houses that don't look, from the MLS or other public data, like what a person is seeking, but because I know the house, I realize that it could work for them. In terms of matching a person to the right Realtor, statistics DO lie. You need an agent that will help you break into a house, if need be, in order to show it to you (wink to Glen).
