Vivant Home Security Representative in HPP
#1
BEWARE! A VIVINT Home Security representative showed up at our door this afternoon. We have been told that all our neighbors are signing up for this security alarm system, which I can have for free (for a discounted price starting at $49.99 a month instead of $80--the $49.99 is advertised online). The nice young man selling it--who wanted to know how many entry doors the house had--is here for two days and then gone. I passed up the great deal and hope my neighbors are not too late to get out of a 39 month CONTRACT. (Saw this online.) The Better Business Bureau where there home office is in Utah writes: "!THERE IS AN ALERT ON THIS COMPANY!!" Type in Vivint and SCAM. They originally had a different name and had a lot of complaints about them after hurricane Katrina. You are NOT getting anything for free. Don't be pressured to make a decision on the spot.
Check it out first.

The kid came by about 3 hours ago on Makuu. I told him I don't ever go anywhere so I didn't need no stinking alarm system! ;-)

At least two calls came across the police scanner about a week or so ago about a guy going door to door selling home security systems. He was on 27th at the time around Kaloli. According to police, he wore a red ball cap with orange lettering. People were concerned thinking he was staking out homes or something.

The kid showed up at our door this evening. I told him the same thing Royal did. "I never go anywhere". I also showed him Punaweb and showed him what they are saying about him. He said "Vivint is a legitimate business and there is nothing illegal what he is doing".

He's like that annoying tele-marketer that you get occasionally over the phone trying to sell you a security system. It's borderline legal...but there are hidden costs. "Nothing is free"

Nice, lets knock this "kid" for trying to make a living. He was nicely and brightly dressed and cops were called on him. Pathetic. For what? Did he trespass on anyones property? My fence was open but have a no trespassing sign and he walked right on by. He also smiled and waved as I passed by on another occasion. Yup, a pale kid in bright colored clothing scoping property out, during the day, walking back and forth so all can see him with his folder. hmmm, now thats some rational thinking. What a great use of our officers time. And i'm sure 911 was used for this.

Oh, no. There is an alert out on this company!!!! Google complaints for any company and see what comes up. Try Brinks home security and see what comes up. I bet if everyone read the contract line for line, everything would be disclosed. But who in this thread took the time to do it? Sounds like no one. Instead of criticizing the company and people who try and make a living selling the product, take a look at the contract yourself and read it front and back. These complaints i've read online sound like the typical believe everything that your told, sign on the dotted line, and forget about taking 5 minutes to read through a legally binding contract. And then cry foul.....

Guess we will see. I have seen that 4 residents on my street alone have the vivint signs up. Guess alot of people got screwed according to what has been posted in Punaweb. Funny no one has mentioned the JD Power award for excellent customer service.......

Times have changed, do it yourself.
There are several systems you can put in your house that are linked to your cell phone. Control, monitor the system all from your own cellphone and you call the police if needed.
