What's On My Food.org

A friend passed this on from Pesticide Action Network, entitled WhatÕs On My Food? and I thought I'd share it. This organization provides a pesticide residue database that tracks the latest toxicology data, now including bee-toxic pesticides, from the U.S. government and other authoritative sources. According to the website, its editors track pesticides that are linked with cancer, neurodevelopmental and endocrine system impacts as well as birth defects.

Regarding the recent addition of pesticides that are harming bees, the editors said, ÒWe added this non-human toxicity dimension because: a) bees are carrying a pesticide burden that has clearly become unbearable; and b) bees are an indicator species. As bees go, so goes the environment and with it, us.Ó

Interestingly, PAN says the USDA is months behind in its routine release of pesticide data. Guess itÕs true that we need to each be our own best doctor.
