Chuysmom - my name is SPUNKY - NOT spanky. Ishkab misspelled it (intentionally or not). Kind of one of the issues with misspelling words - people repeat the mistakes. As for Toyota SERVCO - I didn't say anything about them - Bullwinkle did. If you read my actual post I discussed a situation a friend went through with Chevy.

This topic got me thinking about which car dealers people like. There are a few folks on here that seem unhappy with Toyota. A coworker had a horrible experience with Nissan and another friend has had issues with Chevy.

Can anyone name a GOOD car dealership in Hilo they were happy with?

Ish - yes those are my soaps, thanks for your kind words.

Spanky - All Hawaii dealerships are independent and have next to nothing to do with TOYOTA per se. They are owned by SERVCO.

Orchid Isle Ford in Hilo. They may be expensive...but they do good work. And their customer service is excellent. If they find something wrong...they will immediately call you..tell you what it will cost...and how long it will take. They also have a very good supply of Ford parts...so if something needs replacing...it can be done the same day.

But also it just seems as a gross generalization that new cars of any brand aren't put together well and the service for the poorly put together cars is even less adequate.

agreed .... here is a useful link to check the ntsb vehicle complaint database - what I look for is multiple complaints about the same issue

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/

read the instructions carefully if you use this site - its a little tricky to use - the feds seem to have a different concept when it comes to "easy to use" - grin

Spunky - I am sorry for the mix-up. (Although I have to admit it made me giggle just now when you pointed it out. I mean Spanky is funny. Makes me think of Little Rascals.

I guess I was just following suit. I am hard on myself for awful verbiage and misspelled words. I don't point it out to others 'cause for whatever reason, that's how they communicate.[Smile]
