Just received an email on this:

Friday Fun and Fascinating Films

“Asians in American Films” is the topic of a ten-week series of films with discussions, sponsored by the Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation Department. Each Friday (1 - 4 pm) there will be a feature film followed by discussion.

The series will show important American films and discuss how the portrayal of Asians, particularly Japanese and Chinese, has changed from the 1930s to today.

Cost is $10 for the series, payable at the door. Each week stands alone, so you may choose to attend only some of the films. All sessions will meet in the lower level auditorium at the Institute for Astronomy, 640 N. Auhoku Pl, Hilo. (Please park on the street.)

Directions: from Komohana, turn makai on Nowelo (towards the Imiloa Center for Astronomy) and take the first left. The Institute for Astronomy is the building at the end of the road.
