My mom wants to give us a her king size bed. We really only want the mattress. She is on Oahu. Well, the bed is anyway.
Anyone ever ship large items via young brothers? I think youngbrothers has a container for items you can just throw stuff in from island to island. Anyone do this? Can you just pull your tuck up to the container on Oahu and Here on the big island. When I shipped my car, I had to walk in kinda far to the sales office, then had to walk from there and find my car. Because we didn't have a TWIX card we couldn't just drive in, thought it was pretty lame.
I can't imagine trying to walk a king size mattress out of there.

Donno set up on Oahu, nor what a TWIX card is ... But I pick (BIG) stuff up all the time from YB here with my ID + drive my car right up to container doors.

Y.B. has some rather small containers in which they consolidate various things. Wrap the mattress well and they will ship it.

On Oahu you just pull right up to the container - but after getting your labels and paperwork set up at the . Very simple process, maybe takes a half hour on a bad day.

If you don't have a TWIX Card or other port access identification, it used to be that you could go to the office and explain you will pick up less than twice a year, and they would let you drive in after showing drivers license and signing in. I haven't been to the harbor in about 5 years, but that's how it was last time I picked something up. It was an added level of post 9/11 security.

TWIC is a TSA ID badge that is needed for entry into secure areas of Ports & Harbors TWIC badge holders can also escort others that have been entered into a manifest to enter into the secure area
Most likely Young Bros is either moving the containers out of the secure area of the Harbors, or you did not realize you were escorted by a TWIC badge holder and your name had been entered into a manifest to enter the port area 0 which could have happened if you had arranged earlier to pick up the item out of the container at a certain time....my guess is that it is easier to have the container moved to a non-secure location....

Done it a few times. Show your driver's license and they let you drive in to the mixed cargo containers. Load and un-load by hand.
