bag ban in action
#51
Yeh,conservatives don't usually ban useful products.

They would install large recycling bins at retail outlets that dispense these bags and then they recycle them into something useful.

WINCHESTER, Va. — Seven out of every 10 recycled plastic grocery bags in the U.S. end up at a facility operated by Trex here, which uses them to manufacture decks, fencing and other outdoor living products, the company announced yesterday. On an annual basis, Trex incorporates 1.5 billion recycled grocery bags in its products, which are composed almost entirely of recycled plastic, wood scrap and sawdust, the company said. About 140,000 recycled bags go into making an average 500-square-foot deck, according to Trex.

That is why virtually every store I've shopped in since the ban went into effect asks that you use a wagon or basket while shopping, not your bags.

No matter who owns it the OC Register is still a very conservative paper in one of the most conservative counties in the country. It went looking for information that matched their already held opinion.

I want to know why if you bring your own bag they give you 5 cent discount, but if you just opt to carry out your items in your arms like I did today you don't get the 5 cents! Hey folks, a nickle is a nickle!

It's not a complete study, which is why it's an "unpublished research paper." Here's the response from the City of San Francisco:

Based on our review of this paper, and our disease surveillance and death registry data, Klick & Wright's conclusion is not warranted.
