The other day KGMB had a report saying that a Hilo resident (Mark Munekata) had developed a coqui trap using baking soda, bait and grease. They did not give a lot of details (the story is here
http://www.kgmb9.com/kgmb/display.cfm?storyID=10681&sid=1183.) It would seem that if this works then you could make a lot of 5 gallon bucket traps and spread them around. One advantage of this system is that it catches all the frogs.
Anyone know this quy or have additional information or instructions on building a trap?

Thanks for the link Jerry. I had to remove the period off the link to get it to work though. Nice talking to you and Bear Sunday!

Here it is. An answer to the coqui problem and a $$$$ maker to boot. Yes, it could be a great SOLUTION... Surely someone can come up with a recipe to make it as popular as our Hawaiian coffees, teas, and even cocoa. HOP to it - it could be the new "Jumpa Juice" energy beverage with a Viagra kick:

It would seem that malathion, (yucky stuff but), also eliminates them. I had to do some serious killing of the bug population within my lot yesterday, (Mosquito's, ants and centipedes, it's down to me and calamine lotion, or them) and last night there wasn't a single peep in the lowers areas of my plants and shrubs where I sprayed. I could almost hear the crickets, over the coquies nightly chirp, emanating from the other the jungle lots around me. My rear border has tall wild trees and I couldn't spray high enough but everything I could get to was quite.
Also, I am being told that good old coffee, does the trick as well. Can't wait till electric gets to me, so,I can give my frogs a morning cup of java. "The caffeine" I am told, does them in, along with the snails/slugs. I am thinking, coffee water balloons in the upper elevations of my trees..Good!!!
