Best Place to rent a house in Puna?
#11
Whatever you do, don't rent from a guy on Craigslist named Len Lovinglight. He used to advertise a vacation rental that included use of a car, but didn't mind double (or triple?) booking it and then notifying people at the last minute that 1) it wasn't available and 2) Unfortunately he had spent the deposit and it would be a few weeks before he could get it back to you.

I have lived in Eden Roc for a year and a half. I really like it. The cooler weather, fewer bugs, and we lucked out with very reasonable neighbors making it good for us. We are in temporary quarters, and were going to buy when my house finally sells back on the mainland. But, the more I stay here, the more I think I want to build on this lot. There is a lot of wet here, but you learn to do your yard work in between the showers. All the subdivisions in the "affordable" range seem to have theft problems. We have had one murder here in recent times, but it was probably a drug thing, and does not make me more afraid to stay here.

Yes, this is a pretty poor neighborhood, many people in sort of third world housing, but still good people.

There's some more than $500,000 dollar homes in this subdivision. There's an awful lot of $150,000 to $285,000 dollar homes in this subdivision as well. Just saying. Depends on who you're hanging with.

Twice now, someone screwing around with someone else's woman (not counting O.J.) has been dealt with in an insane and hellish way in this subdivision.

As disgusting as these events are, they are events and they are anomalies. This entire subdivision is NOT defined by the individual low-lifes who move in and out and bring their filth with them.

What theft? The lady's purse from the schmucks on 26...ok.
But, what else? Not much of anything, actually.
