My Bad neverending nightmare with Yama's Roofing
#1
Hired Yama's To reroof Mothers house. This was Early/Mid August. Signed Contract and picked color and placed over $6000 down so they would order the roofing.
Time ticked on late August Early Sept now we call "Oh yes they are very behind and will be out by the end of September. Ill call you back and let you know when."
2 weeks pass and nothing, now mid Sept. So we call again
"Oh yes still very busy and will call by the end of Sept."
Okay so hear nothing again now the 4th of October. And we call,
and get "Oh I dont know who you are but when the regular receptionist comes back Ill have her call you"
Yeah right!! I think we just got taken for 6 grand. Thank goodness I have Lawyers in my family.

Thanks for the heads-up. I do all my own roofing but still appreciate knowing this type of information. The mental list of good vs. bad apples grows ever-larger!

Always submit your down payment (and the balance) with a credit card.

Mastercard/Visa, etc. don't fool around. They would have sucked your $6000 right out of Yama's account and back into yours in a matter of days.

Interesting observation Ted. Most seem to bury their head in a bucket of Aloha sand when it comes to these issues.

They said they'd call me back by the end of today, am going in to them on Monday and ask for my money. Yes the "ignorance is bliss" phenomenon abounds here.

There is a time limit to initiate a charge back for failure to deliver goods or services.

Need to add, too many chargebacks and they can lose their ability to accept credit cards.

Having accepted credit card as payment, vendor is required to deliver merchandise within 30 days unless you agree otherwise.

This lack of control over logistics is exactly why I don't use "superior non-wood" technologies (Castleblock, etc). I need my project to be on my schedule, not Matson's.
