I want to do something nice for a friend in Puna who has done a lot for us. I was thinking of getting her a gift certificate to a spa. She visits Kona enough so anywhere on the island would probably be doable for her. any suggestions?

No need to come to Kona for that, there is a really nice spa in Keaau.

It's called "A Beautiful Day" and it's fairly new! According to my wife this place is genuine and very special, far different than the hustle bustle of the large hotels. Their website is

Kalani does lomilomi and the like.

I LOVE KALANI, but it is not a "Mauna Lani" type experience.

I agree with John that "It's a Beautiful Day" is a great place to go; it's in Orchidland and Sheri does a great job!
