Has anyone with the medical marijuana permit carried a legal amount of marijuana to another island? I tried the HPD, Vice Squad and Narcotics Enforcement without an answer. The last call (recommended by Vice) was particularly frustrating as the tape says the message box is full so try again later. Recently this went before the Hawaii Supreme Court which ruled 4-1 in favor of a medical marijuana patient who was arrested at the Kona airport when TSA turned the guy over to the police. For 2 grams. So, has anyone openly carried? Has TSA heard of the new ruling?

as long as you travel in-state, should not be a problem. i have uncles and aunties that go to maui, no problem. they put it in the luggage, not carry on. if it ever goes to court, youll win as the feds arent gonna stink up the island over a personal amount

TSA clarified this issue for Colorado, mumbling to the effect that people's "legal weed" is not their primary objective, with some verbiage about "crossing into another jurisdiction with different legal status" (such as leaving the State).
However, like most law enforcement, TSA can be completely arbitrary, so your frequent-flier mileage may vary...

You will be dealing with enforcers of Federal Law when you use the airports. I would not recommend taking the risk until Federal policies are much clearer.
