Can you ski up there ?

Some years yes. But downhill always ends in lava rock, so control of descent is more than helpful. and there are large lava boulders that can cause a painful stop if not accounted for.
This year the snow base has not been much & the majority of the snow was gone quickly for the first two snows - there were a few long scrapes of snow hanging on but most likely those were icey ADDED: 2 Pictures: http://ulocal.kitv.com/mediadetail/18527...tion=21517&moderationstatus=1&offset=2&channel=25033&collection=21517&gid=79867&includeChildGroups=approved http://ulocal.kitv.com/mediadetail/18527...tion=21517&moderationstatus=1&offset=1&channel=25033&collection=21517&gid=79867&includeChildGroups=approved

Those pictures look so serene, Carey. I saw the same scenes driving into work this morning and wished I had taken my camera with me. On the other hand, despite looking so nice, the conditions at the summit during that time were life-threatening. Winds were over 100-mph and before I drove in noticed that the CFHT had recently recorded a wind gust of 163-mph. I'm not sure I trust that number but watching the scene live via video from a webcam up there things were certainly blowing.
