Need gas line installed
#1
Hi Guys, the guy who was supposed to install my propane gas line for my stove and on demand water heater has flaked on me twice and I am looking for someone else. Any recommendations you might have would be much appreciated.

can always talk to the Gas Company on Kamehameha Ave. I think it's the closest thing to a State regulated utility. I didn't go with them since they wanted a $7/month charge on top the cost of propane. Maybe I'm too cheap but not Big Island resident yet anyway.

make sure you use black iron for pipe - galvy is not rated for gas....

NO. Black iron for NATURAL gas, galvanized for propane.

Big sign in Home Despot above the pipe.

...under which it says "no natural gas on Hawaii island".

(I asked; apparently they stock the black iron for some other purpose.)

Bullwinkle,

You are citing the standard from 2004,last I checked it's 2014.You need to belong to the NFPA to get the 2014 edition of the standards.Galvanized pipe is allowed .

We got our gas lines installed. A gentleman by the name of Ronnie Harris. Installed our on demand water heater and lines for the stove and dryer all in one day, and reasonable too. Ronnie's number is 808-769-0303 should anyone have need of his services. I highly recommend him. You can say that Michael and Larry recommended him.
