First 'hot' night ...
#1
Walked into my first batch of gnats for 2014.

I'm predicting termite swarms tonight.

Get out the basins and tape the screens.

They are...swarming....no hint of a breeze either. Off the lights!

Do you think the coqui could eat them or something? In between chirps?

The coqui are definitely eating them. I looked up at my outside light and saw a least half dozen frogs on the side of the house. I was about to knock them down, but when I watched them for a few seconds I could see they were snatching the bugs.

Have to second the frog attack. This seems to be the night of the frog, many are trying to come through the windows and doors. They are louder tonight and moving around more. Just take a drive down lower Puna right now and with your headlights you will see dozens if not hundreds of frogs of all sizes, anyone say froglegs for supper?. wonder if its the weather, warmth or more, like the added volume of lava that just entered Puu'oo?.

I dunno about frogs but my yard for the past week has been covered in SLUGS... Thank goodness for the mynahbirds. We got about 50 of them out in the yard daily feasting on the slugs. I guess I bought that slug bait for nothing.
