We had a friend who got rid of a hanging wasps nest by blasting it with a CO2 fire extinguisher at night. The wasps were all in the nest, it was a little cooler so they were moving slower, and the CO2 froze the wasps on contact, cold sinks so it should penetrate into the lava crack. Good luck and be careful!
