Off-Grid Solar - Ideas for Using Less Propane
#21
Looks like they are herding the chicken in for dessert! I like the oven you have, will investigate further. Mahalo!

James,

Magnawave doesn't search much up on the interwebs--are you using that generically for induction cooking or is it a brand name? I am guessing that it is a 240V deal where you assume you will have grid power...?

The unit below has me intrigued as we are solar stand-alone and would like some redundancy with propane. Did you notice it in your research?

I like this one. The two burner model splits the power between the burners (you can use one burner at the 10 setting, or use both burners at the 5 setting, or one at 7 and the other at 3, etc). This model is a lot cheaper and if you need two burners you could get two of them still at much cheaper than the two burner model (though you would probably have to put them on separate circuits or blow a circuit breaker...maybe easier to live with one burner)

Induction-friendly pressure cooker and induction plate seems doable on a well balanced solar system and even without the induction, using a pressure cooker with propane would cut down usage...to state the obvious. Wink

I guess the comparison would be baking a potato in a microwave vs pressure cooker on induction...
