UH-H to have Palm Society talk Sun. Night - 7pm
#1
Mrs. Dransfield, wife of Dr. Dransfield from the Kew Royal Botanic Gardens in England, will have a talk on Bamboo plant species Sunday, July 20 at 7pm at UCB 100 at the University.

The talk on Friday night was WOW.... esp. the Titania talk, a whole new genus was found, and the botanical detective work to place it!... This was 2 separate hour talks plus raffles for a handful of Madagascar palms, they even had cookies at intermission! (didn't ask about the Easter Island species, as this was pretty much a Madagascar journey - with a lot of remarks about how well & quickly palms grow in Hawaii.... get the impression that he was wowed on his tours of the Palm SOciety members gardens!)

'Yal are so fortunate! I so wish I was there to attend tonight's talk- this fellow really knows his topic and has great stories.

If there is a Q&A session then someone please do ask Dr. Dransfield what lessons he thinks the colorful saga of the Easter Island palm (Paschalococos disperta) holds for the Big Island, and then share a summary of his remarks with us via Punaweb, please.

Does UH record these talks and make them available later?
