I'm still in shock as we have lost a Hilo Icon, Alice Moon. I know of no other person who has done so much to improve the quality of life in East Hawaii. Have you been to an event in Hilo? Chances are Alice Moon worked hard to make it happen;

I was really surprised to hear it this AM.
She has done quite a bit for Hilo, and she will be missed.
I remember a Sierra Club dinner event 14 or so years ago that she worked on.
I made my hubby promise to not say a word about building or bulldozing or anything like that --- turns out a person who shall remain nameless who is about 6'5 came up to my husband at our table and in a booming voice said "your suggestion of Roundup with a little diesel fuel in - that $hit really does work".** I was cringing but Alice whispered in my ear that we had all those kind in our families, and I laughed sheepishly. I will always remember that small kindness from her.
(**note - we have got my husband to be way way greener since then!)
